Ten Haikus for Uxbridge Day Three

Finn excuse for a picture

By Ged
July 23 2010

In the interests of brevity and variety, Ged Ladd has decided to write up today's play in the form of ten haiku poems. This is a bit of a first for MTWD, so let us know what you think.

If you're not entirely sure what a Haiku is, click on the word Haiku and find out.

Haiku One - The Night Before

Though Simpson turns up,
At charity curry night,
Next morning, no runs.

Haiku Two - Getting There

Piccadilly Line,
Inevitable delays,
Old folk rush to ground.

Haiku Three - Hoiku

Malan and Morgan,
Show dreamy summer batting,
Till both bowled hoiking.

Haiku Four - Saving Face

Batsmen six to ten,
Summon up a hundred more,
A hundred behind.

Haiku Five - Outside Broadcasts Again

Iain O'Brien,
Runs in like a spring chicken,
Pulls up, hammy crocked.

Haiku Six - Sad At Tea

Daisy's on her way,
"Thirty six for no wicket",
"Does not sound too good".

Haiku Seven - In The Wickets

Finn and Rowland-Jones
Strike four times in ten overs,
Joyce and Prior displeased.

Haiku Eight - Sussex Fret

"We've been robbed", they claim,
"If so, report the umpires",
"No, call the police".

Haiku Nine - Hatchett Job

Murray Goodwin Falls,
Only a few balls to go,
Hatchett, night watchman.

Haiku Ten - Summary

Lovely day to watch,
Splendid wicket for cricket,
Uxbridge came up stumps.

Ha! Well done Ged, certainly a different sort of report, and an education all in one!

But pithy for me! But pithy for me!! But pithy for me!!!

Not sure my "haiku" is high enough to understand these poems.

To the bad pun contingent, I paraphrase Emile Zola:

J'Haikus.
