MTWD Beer Drinkers Guide To Lord's - Update Time

Where To Next?

By Ged Ladd

The MTWD Beers Drinkers Guide To Lord's, authored by Lord of the Chairs, has been an MTWD favourite for many many years. Now that Lord of the Chairs has abandoned NW8 for pastures rural, we'll need to use our collaborative strength to update this great MTWD institution. The season starts soon and thirsty visitors to Lord's need our guidance. Here's how you can help.

Since Lord of the Chairs moved to pastures rural, the MTWD Beer Drinkers Guide to Lord's has not been updated.

That's 3 years now, folks, which is too long.

In a few weeks time, thirsty cricket lovers in need of guidance will be coming to our web site for help.

We need to adopt a collaborative approach to helping our visitors out.

Here is a link to the most recent Lord of the Chairs Guide:

In a couple of weeks time, I shall combine the updates you send in with the original article to create a 2009 update.

My own favourite and one for the update is The Bridge House Pub in Little Venice.  Situated about 10-12 minutes walk from Lord's, it is convenient for those walking to Warwick Avenue or Paddington (only a small detour).

I have loved that place for best part of 20 years.  Lovely to ovelook the canal if the weather is still warm in the evening.  Inside it is now quite a funky-looking pub.  The Canal Cafe Theatre upstairs often has interesting shows.

Indeed, for those who are happy to stay out late, The Bridge House is home to Newsrevue, the longest running comedy show in the world (see Guiness Book of Records), for which Ged Ladd used to write copiously in a different time and under a different name.

But that's my favourite.  A far more important question is, "what's yours?"

"I'll have a pint of bitter please" I hear you all cry.

Any more submissions on this vital topic, folks?

A few of you have mentioned reviewing out-ground drinking houses. If you want them reviewed we'll need a short paragraph on each from those of you who know what you are talking about.

We'll close this Good Friday so we can write up the revised Guide over the long weekend.
