The beef-on-the-bone ban has got the boffins at risk modelling specialists Z/Yen thinking. The company has assessed the risks of the ban against those of Christmas, and lists increased chances of choking on poultry bone (at least until they ban those too), getting a heart attack, slicing your tongue off on a card envelope, or having Santa land on your head as you check the chimney. Since the risks are far higher than contracting BSE, the company concludes: "The relevant authorities should take all necessary steps to prevent Christmas."
